Our Regular Programs

FIVE
A competition in physics for physics teachers, physicist, astronomomers and for everybody, who are dealing with physics. It is always organized by the University of Szeged.
Weekend of physicist Scientific Studentcircle
Lectures are given by physicists, about a field of research in which they are concerned. Students are informed also about some new results of the science and how to join in. It takes place usually somewhere outside Budapest. A suitable program for younger to acquaintance with each other and the lecturers.
Rudolf Ortvay Problem Solving Contest in Physics
The contest was first organized in 1970 by the young professors of Eötvös University. The assigned problems do not focus on school-level problem-solving routine but rather on the skills of physical way of thinking, recognition of the heart of the problem, and the appropriate choice in the mathematical armory. The majority of the assigned problems are original, only few have been published in problem-books.
Trip to CERN
Every year we visit the particleaccelerator near Genf (www.cern.ch and also some institutes at Grenoble (ESRF www.esrf.fr ,ILL www.ill.fr etc). After the vist we do a physicist party and on the last day a sightseeing in Genf.
Open-air philosophical problemsolving in physics (OPhPhP)
The first competition was organized 1993 by Gyula David and the HAPS. The program requires creative problemsolving skills also in theoretical and experimental problems. It is very popular among non-physicist student as well. It is held at Szigliget, next to the Lake Balaton, around 1 May.
Freshmen Camp
Physicist freshmen and from the faculty of humanity "freshwomen" go hiking into the mountains of our lovely Zemplen with many older students (including also PhD students), and "old" physicists before the beginning of the semester. Great oppurtunity to meet with many generations of the physicist society. Get international? Why not! Like hiking or pubs instead? Springs or streams? Rain or sunshine? You choose!
